Who Wrote the Bible?

Updated: Aug 21, 2023

Who? Who did it? Who built St. Paul’s Cathedral in London? So many masons, carpenters, iron-workers, carvers, painters; and then there was Wren. Yes, there was Christopher Wren (1632–1723). He was not a mason, nor a carpenter, nor an iron-worker. He never laid a single stone, drove a nail, or forged a railing. What did he do? He, in essence, did it all. He planned the splendid edifice: inspired with his thought and purpose all their toil, and shaped through every worker. They were his “hands,” and, even today, people flock in thousands from all over the world to see the legendary architect Christopher Wren’s masterpiece.

Who wrote the Bible? Who was it to put pen to paper? Moses, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, John, Peter, Paul? Yes. But through each of these human "authors," the Holy Spirit did it all. “For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭21‬ ‭ESV‬‬).

Bible Verse: “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”

— ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Quotable Quote: “Every time I open my Bible I will read it as the Word of ‘God, that cannot lie,’ and when I get a promise or a threatening, I will either rejoice or tremble because I know that these stand fast.”

— Charles Spurgeon (1834–1892)
